11/25/2011: This page represents an updated version of our comparison between Sunheat and Comfort Furnace heaters. It was brought to our attention that the Sunheat heater reviewed was no longer in production, and could thus be construed as misleading. We were unaware of this fact, and so updated this page on the very day we received notification of the issue. The statement that the out-of-date Sunheat we were reviewing uses “flawed soda-can-like” heating chambers was simply an expression used based on our opinion and assessment of the design. Some took issue with this expression, and so we have withdrawn it. The statement that the wire nuts are exposed to the heating chamber does not apply to the currently reviewed heater, so has been removed. The statement that the out-of-production model of the Sunheat reviewed had a thermostat that was not accurate and that the fan was one of the noisiest on the market was a matter of opinion based on our comparison to other heaters including the 2012 Comfort Furnace. The model which we review on this updated page is the one featured in the comparison section at sunheat.com as of this date. We maintain our belief that the Comfort Furnace is a far superior infrared heater, even when compared to this currently-featured Sunheat model.
