Heat-A-Lot Infrared Heater 1500 Black

I have to say I run a small zoo in my house with pets and children. I feel very safe turning my back when the heater is on. We used to have a dish type space heater that doesn't even compare but scared me more than it was worth, especially with the zoo's occupants around. :) But the cats jump on it, the kids sit on it and everybody is happy. We have a 1700 square feet home and I'd love to have 1 more for the other side of the house. This is a great product.

I have acquired many things over the years and this heater ranks in my Top 3 of All Time. Let me just say that I have had brand new cars that I like less. What more can I say besides that?! Think that says it all.

Here's the deal... I bought this heater last night about 8PM... I just opened my email and there's a message waiting saying that my unit has been shipped!!!! So I put in the UPS tracking number and will be here on FRIDAY... that's two days from now... I have never gotten something I bought on the internet that quick... Very impressed so had to tell people. THANK YOU!

They shipped the device quickly and told me when it would arrive, which was was appreciated. However, the box was heavy and it proved difficult to get the heater out. Though, once out of the box, it's easy to manuever on the four caster wheels. It is true that the device heat from the floor to the ceiling and indeed keeps my two bedroom apartment comfortably warm. It does not reach into my bathroom though, which is around two corners and at the far end of the apartment's layout. I roll the heater into the bathroom when necessary and it warms my tile flooring as well as the porcelain. If given the need, I would buy this Heat-a-lot heater again.

looking at purchasing one of your units but can't decide between comfort furnace or the heat-a-lot, what are the biggest differences or advantages for either? thank you

MJS: Thank you very much for you question and your interest. The functional differences between the Heat-A-Lot and Comfort Furnace are actually not that many. The biggest difference though can be seen in the Comfort Furnace UV models, which use UV light to purify the air. By contrast, the Comfort Furnace XL and Heat-A-Lot sanitize the air. The difference is a technical one, but purification is considered a “better” process of cleaning the air, in general. The UV models also have a full-function remote control with digital read-out (new this year). By comparison, the XL and Heat-A-Lot come with a credit-card style remote control, allowing you to control the everyday features of the heater, but not the more obscure features that you’d use only once in a long while. Also new this year with the Comfort Furnace UV is the use of a low RPM laminar fan. This makes the Comfort Furnace UV ultra quiet, at only 38db of fan noise. The Heat-A-Lot And Comfort Furnace XL uses a scroll-cage fan system. It’s still quiet, but comes in just slightly higher at 42db of fan noise. Another difference is the control interface on the heaters, via the buttons on the front. The UV’s 6 buttons allows you to make settings faster on the unit itself. The Comfort Furnace XL has 5 buttons and the Heat-A-Lot 4 buttons. The more buttons, the less menu options you’ll need to navigate to make settings. Outside of the cabinet materials and designs, most other differences are minor and don’t impact the actual heating performance of the units in any way. I hope this information is useful. If you plan to use an infrared heater to supplement a baseboard heating system or other central heating system within your apartment, it will provide you with all the additional heat you could ever need. You can keep the central heating set to a low temperature and the infrared heater will take care of the rest. If this unit will be your primary source of heat, we recommend you use its portability to maximize its effectiveness, by placing the unit near your living spaces during the day and rolling it near your bedrooms at night. Not a review, but a question. Would it be ok to use the comfort furnace UV in our motorhome?

Dianna: We appreciate your interest! The Comfort Furnace UV needs a 115 Volt AC - 1500 Watt electrical source. If your motor home meets that requirement, the UV would be perfect for you. In fact, many of our past customers have purchased a Comfort Furnace for either a motor home or a trailer. The only other consideration would be that the UV has wheels under it for easy portability, but you can always remove those so that the heater sits stationary on the cabinet when you are on the move. We live in a cold climate and use way to much oil.We keep the house pretty cool(about 60) but like to warm up in the morning right out of bed.We live in a cape with an open floorplan, downstairs is about 1000 sq feet with an open staircase.We keep upstairs minimally heated in the winter as we don't use it much.Will we benefit from one of your heaters and if so what model would you recommend.Thank you

With few obstructions, the heat can be most easily maintained from wall to wall. One unit would cover your downstairs area, but the upstairs area would be left mostly untouched, only benefiting from a small amount of residual heat. You mentioned that the heaters use the same amount of the energy as a coffee pot. I don't use a coffee pot so I would like you to explain in alittle more detail what is the likely cost of running one of these heater per month. I understand that it depends on how often the heater is in use. We would probably use it 6 hours a day.

Diane Ranshaw: That's a great question! The average customer pays just under $1 per day to operate the Comfort Furnace for 8 hours. That's around 12.5 cents per hour. So for 6 hours a day of continuous use, that's about 75 cents. Keep in mind that, when the Comfort Furnace has heated the area to your desired temperature, it will go into sleep mode until the temperature needs to be regulated again. This conserves power and uses even less electricity. The cost of electricity in your area may vary from that average, but this estimate should be very close to what you can expect to pay. I am considering purchasing a heater of some type for the kitchen area of my home. It is on the opposite side of the home from the FAG system and has always been cool. It has 10' high ceilings and is an open floor plan connecting to the family room area which has 12' ceilings. The kitchen is approximately 16 x 25 and I am looking for some supplemental heat. Do you think the Comfort Furnace XL would be the best selection to handle this need?
