The walnut is very pretty and the heater looks great with my furniture. It's small enough to stay out of the way, but substantial enough to do its job well. I've had the Comfort Furnace for only just over a week, but will certainly be keeping it.

My dad actaully bought me this heater and I'm totally glad he sprung so much for it. ;) I can tell already I'll be saving some $$ this winter. Thanks dad!

My wife and I are very pleased with the performance and look of Comfort Furnace. The worst thing about the unit is that it's quite heavy, although it does roll easily. What I like best is that we have two dogs and a cat and don't have to worry at all when the heater turns on (which we have set to turn on before we get home from work). If these reviews had stars it would get a 4.5 out of 5 from us.

i have an open floor plan that connects my kitchen, my livingroom and my dining roomm and it keeps the whole space toasty. works great and just like they say it does. i can see how it will save me money and already is. i recommended a comfort furnace to my girl friend and she bought the oak and is very happy with hers too. i would also reccommend a comfort furnace to anybody.

Great around kids. I'm a mother of three young boys and was glad to find out that the outside of the heater stays cool. It's not like a regular space heater at all! I also like how quietly it runs. Quiet is good when the boys go to bed!!! The remote control is great feature also. For people with children this is the heater for you.

My husband and I have had our central heating thermostat set to 60 degrees for the last two months, with our Comfort Furnace supplying most of the heat. The only problem is that I like to set the Comfort Furnace to 80 degrees, and complaining that it's making him sweat, he turns it down to 72 degrees. This is an ongoing joke between us, but the point is that this portable furnace can make someone sweat even in the Winter. I don't think you could ask for anymore than that!

I reviewed the wrong one, this is the one that I actually bought in October. I love it and would not part with it for anything other that 2 more just like it. I am amazed at how warm it can get on just a low setting. We are having temps in the teens right now and I stay warm and toasty with my Comfort Furnace. I wish I had been able to buy another one 2 weeks ago. The remote comtrol mafunctioned and I called the Customer service and they sent another one to me within 2 days. I am very pleased with the heater and the customer service. You get all stars as far as I am concerned.

So far Ive saved 100% on my heating bill since I havent turned on central heating yet. It's been cold especially at night for a couple of months now and my Comfort Furnace has supplied all the heat so far. I would guess that the Comfort Furnace will pay for itself by the first of Feb. Its a super unit that I wish I had bought long ago and I would surely recommend it.

Thank you for inviting me to do this review. I have to start with something quite funny. My husband calls this Comfort Furnace heater my "hot friend". That's because I tote it around with me wherever I go in our house. It's "hot" and it's my buddy. I think I'll give her a name (yes, mine is a girl) :) Anyway, one of the very first things I noticed when I turned it on for the first time is how quiet it is. I'm mean, quiet, quiet, quiet. I guess I was expecting something a little louder but it is silent. Shhhhh. Another funny thing is that I thought it was broken because it was so quiet, so I stood in front of it and knew right away that it was working fine. I don't really know how to describe the heat that comes out of it because it really is so different. I read on this website that it's called "soft heat" but I really didn't understand that to be honest. If you actually feel the heat for yourself though, you'll understand it completely. "Soft" is actually a good way of putting it. I really don't know what else to say except that it works great and I'm very happy with my decision to purchase it. I've already recommended it to my friends. That's all, thank you.

Not a review, but a question. Would it be ok to use the comfort furnace UV in our motorhome?
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/05/2011 @ 02:27:15 pm
Dianna: We appreciate your interest! The Comfort Furnace UV needs a 115 Volt AC - 1500 Watt electrical source. If your motor home meets that requirement, the UV would be perfect for you. In fact, many of our past customers have purchased a Comfort Furnace for either a motor home or a trailer. The only other consideration would be that the UV has wheels under it for easy portability, but you can always remove those so that the heater sits stationary on the cabinet when you are on the move. Thanks again for the question!
Dianna Joneswrote on 10/05/2011 @ 03:32:56 pm
I'm looking for the best heater on the market, I've compared most units, was going to order the edenpure but I've changed my mind. I don't like the internal look of it! Do you do any infomericals for the Comfort Furnace? If not you should because I found you by chance.
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/05/2011 @ 03:54:53 pm
Dianna: Thank you so much for the kind words, especially because we do pride ourselves in offering the best infrared heaters on the market. The problem with infomercials and hiring celebrities to endorse our products is that it costs a lot of money - an expense EdenPure and other infomercial brands pass on to the customer. So in the end, the customer ends up with an inferior product that costs more than it's really worth. What we've decided to do is offer the highest quality heaters made of the best materials and offer them at the lowest price possible. What we've found is that our customers tell their friends and family about their experience, who then become customers themselves, and word continues to spread. That way, our customers come out ahead and we feel great about the value we've passed on to you. Again, please accept our sincere gratitude for your comments.

I have a question......can this be your only heat source in a small cabin(640 sq.ft.)?. ( Will enough heat be provided to stay comfortable if the temp.drops below 30)?
Thank you
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/06/2011 @ 02:18:11 pm
Charlene: We appreciate your question! This unit can indeed provide enough heat for the size of cabin you described. Depending on the layout, utilizing the infrared heater's portability will prove most effective. If the cabin has an open layout, you won't need to reposition it at all. You'll simply set the thermostat on the front of the Comfort Furnace to your desired temperature and it will regulate itself. If your cabin has a more closed layout - separated into smaller areas - you'll get the most benefit by positioning the heater in your living spaces during the day, and repositioning it near your bedrooms at night. That way, the Comfort Furnace can most accurately regulate the temperature you desire based on exactly where you're at. We've had many customers over the years use the Comfort Furnace as their sole heat source in cabins, mobile homes, etc. with square footage very near yours and in climates that get even colder than yours. But as always, if you find that it isn't perfect for your purposes, you can return it within 30 days with no problems. Thanks again for your interest!

Iwould really like to know more about this. We moved here a year ago and winter doesn't mess around here. Our home is 2200 square feet without any wide open areas. Last winter we spent nearly $2800 on heating and cannot afford to do that again. We are considering installing a pellet stove, but just heard about the infrared option. Do you honestly think your product can cut our costs and heat our home? What will its use do to my electric bill?
Mirage Infrared Heaterswrote on 10/09/2011 @ 01:08:59 pm
Karen: Thanks for your questions. As we're based in Wisconsin, we can definitely relate with you about winters that don't mess around!
As to your first question, our customers consistently report cutting their heating costs by 30% - 50%. We've sold tens of thousands of units nationwide, and every one of them came with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Of those tens of thousands of customers, less than one-half of one-half of a percent have decided to return their unit. That's amazingly low by any standard, but especially when you consider our generous return policy. If our products didn't deliver, that rate of return would never be so low -- instead it would be through the roof.
Having said that, every customer has a different situation. You have a larger than average home, and one infrared heater would not warm every square inch. In your circumstance, if you chose to utilize an infrared heater, we'd recommend using it as a supplement to your central heating system. By doing so, you can keep the heat low (saving money in the process) and utilize the infrared heater's portability to warm up to 1000 square feet of space which you happen to be occupying at any given time. So for example, during the day, you'd supplement the heat in your living areas; at night, the bedroom areas.
Also, we've noticed over and over again that the customers who've reported saving half or more off their previous year's heating bill went the extra mile. They'd use the Delayed Start Function to save electricity, they'd take full advantage of the infrared heater's portability, they'd use their central heating vent system wisely, etc.
As to the question about your electricity bill, the Comfort Furnace uses the same amount of electricity as a standard coffee machine. So, the amount you pay for electricity would depend on how many hours a day you'd use the unit (this is where the Delayed Start Function comes in handy). We had a customer last year who had their electric central heating go out, so purchased an infrared heater to use as their sole means of heating, and ended up paying more than $1000 LESS than the previous winter because they never turned back on their central heating system (the customer didn't have a home of your size, however it says something about the heater's energy consumption.)
One other thing we'd point out as a side note is the health and safety issues associated with heating systems such as pellet stoves. Because the Comfort Furnace doesn't burn anything to create heat, no unhealthy fumes are released into your home's environment. Also, the Comfort Furnace doesn't heat the air directly, but indirectly by warming the objects in rooms first. It's this unique way of heating that makes infrared a more efficient way of heating, with a better quality of heat. And because of the way infrared goes about heating, it won't dry out the air like traditional heating systems.
In the end, what we want is NOT for you to buy one of our products no matter what; we want what you want, which is whatever is best for you and your family. If you decide to try our infrared technology, that's fantastic. And if it doesn't fit with your current circumstances, we'll arrange to have your unit picked up and refund your money, no problem. We wish you the best in your decision making!
Carol Hill ne PAwrote on 10/16/2011 @ 04:52:10 pm
As I read in a comment above, the furnace being the sole heating source, how would it be if left unattended in a house for a week or 2 in the winter? Could it be set at a low setting to come on every so often or would need central heat that could be left unattended?
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/16/2011 @ 05:20:32 pm
Carol: We appreciate your question! The Comfort Furnace can regulate the temperature of its surroundings unattended and automatically for an indefinite amount of time, without the need of a central heating system. Just as you assumed, you can set the temperature to a low degree and the unit will wake out of power save mode automatically whenever that temperature needs to be maintained. Setting the temperature to a low degree will save you the maximum amount of energy and the Comfort Furnace's standard power save functionality will help you save even more. With our infrared heaters, you can "set it and forget it." Thanks again for the question!

I have a couple of questions. My house if very old and there is not a permanent heat source in the house It heats with the old 220v stack heaters and some oil filled space heaters. I am looking for a more cost effective way to heat. The house is 1448 sq ft and one bedroom is across from the living room and another across from the den. Currently I put one 2-stack heater in the living room and den and oil filled heater in each bedroom and kitchen. How many of the infrared heaters would you recommend that I need and how does the heat compare to the heat from the stack heaters? I was pleased to read how safe it is and that it does not run the risk of causing a fire like the other heaters do. Just want to see if these will provide as much heat as what I have now since it would be my only heat source. Thanks for your time.
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/17/2011 @ 09:32:10 pm
Nina: These are great questions that probably apply to many people. The fire safety features of our infrared heaters certainly bring peace of mind, but the health benefits are also a major consideration in your case. With fuel burning systems, toxic fumes are release. However, with our infrared heaters, no toxic fumes are emitted into your air. Not only are no toxins release, but these infrared heaters actually clean the air. There is also a major difference in how a conventional heater and an infrared heater warm the air. Your current heaters are designed to heat the air first (drying it out in the process), which in turn warm the objects in the room. But because heated air dissipates so quickly, much of the heat energy is lost in the process. With our infrared heaters, the objects in the area are what is heated, which hold and slowly release the heat into the air. This is a much, much more efficient way of heating (and does not take any humidity out of your environment). For the size, age and configuration of your home, we would probably recommend 2 infrared heaters. If your bedrooms were in the same section of your home, you could utilize a single heater, using the Comfort Furnace's portability to warm the areas where you are at any given time. Each will warm up to 1000 square feet with a powerful BTU rating of 6500 for a portable unit (which doesn't take into account the actual energy-to-heat efficiency of infrared). We hope this helps in your decision making process, and thanks again for your questions!
Billwrote on 10/18/2011 @ 05:59:55 pm
I have three of these heaters and they are great. This is alos the only heater after extensive research where there were absolutely no negative comments about any of the heaters. The heaters heat the air without drying out the air.
I have a question as a friend of mine is interested in the heater but he wants to know if there is a graphic or chart that depicts the energy savings.
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/18/2011 @ 07:51:23 pm
Bill: Thank you very much for your feedback! As to your question, the difficulty in depicting energy savings in a meaningful way with a single chart or graph is that there are so many variables. For instance, each household has a unique set of circumstances, including what kind (or kinds) of energy sources are used (oil, propane, natural gas, electricity and so on), how those energy sources are allocated and in what combination, how the infrared heater is employed, etc. This is why we refer to percentage of savings, because it's what we find to be the most accurate and meaningful measurement. The 30% - 50% savings is what we and our customers have seen thousands of times over and span everyone's diverse energy circumstances.
However, in a recent blog entry, we posted a chart showing the rising cost of propane over the decades. Then we took the average household consumption of propane for heating and calculated that with what's been reported in heating-related energy savings by percent, which is up to half. In 20 years (the lifespan of our heaters, as rated by the University of Missouri) - even if the price of propane never increased - a household would save $28,600. You can see the blog post here: http://www.mirageinfraredheaters.com/infrared-heaters-blog/save-money-with-infrared-heaters/ But, these calculations by averages really only go to show the great potential for savings these infrared heaters can deliver.
Hope that all makes sense! And thanks again!

Whats the difference between the CF1500WT-UV and the XL model?
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 10/20/2011 @ 09:38:21 am
Paul: The biggest difference between the UV and XL can be seen in the Comfort Furnace UV models, which use UV light to purify the air. By contrast, the Comfort Furnace XL sanitizes the air. The difference is a technical one, but purification is considered a “better” process of cleaning the air, in general. The UV models also have a full-function remote control with digital read-out (new this year). By comparison, the XL comes with a credit-card style remote control, allowing you to control the everyday features of the heater, but not the more obscure features that you’d use only once in a long while. Also new this year with the Comfort Furnace UV is the use of a low RPM laminar fan. This makes the UV ultra quiet, at only 38db of fan noise. The XL uses a scroll-cage fan system. It’s still quiet, but comes in just slightly higher at 42db of fan noise. Another difference is the control interface on the heaters, via the buttons on the front. The UV’s 6 buttons allows you to make settings faster on the unit itself. The Comfort Furnace XL has 5 buttons. The more buttons, the less menu options you’ll need to navigate to make settings. However, both are very easy to set. Outside of the cabinet materials and designs, most other differences are minor and don’t impact the actual heating performance of the units in any way. I hope this information is useful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post again. Thanks again for your interest, it’s truly appreciated!

Got this heater back in September. I used it only and not my main heat system for all of September and all of October. I did not need to turn my main heat on until day before yesterday. That is only because my home goes past 1000 square feet. Looking at my electric bill I figure it cost me around $25 in September and $40 in October to run. That is what my bill went up. But I did not use heating oil at all for two months so it more than payed for itself to run. If I was just needing to warm one half of my house I do not think I would need my main heating on at all.
Taylorwrote on 11/09/2011 @ 02:57:24 pm
Hi, My husband purchased the XL model this past weekend and we absolutely love it! I've turned the breaker off to our central heat unit and don't plan on using it again. I'm on an electric cooperative and I have access to my daily usage and this unit has not caused an increase in my normal wattage use yet.....I love it! Our home is about 1000 sq ft. and it heats it up nicely. I leave it set to a desired temp at night and then reset to a desired temp when I leave for work in the morning and when I return it's toasty in our home and there are no "cold" spots like with the central unit. I don't understand the science of that part of it and I don't need to, I just know it works and I'm planning on purchasing another one soon so when we enlarge our home we will be ready. Too bad your company doesn't offer air conditioners to do the same thing. :)
I do have one question for you: What is the Delayed Start Function? I didn't see anything about that in my hand book but I may have missed it. Thanks for such a great product!
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 11/09/2011 @ 04:27:20 pm
Taylor: Thank you so much for the kind words about our products and for taking your time to leave a message about your experience! We're very happy that your Comfort Furnace is working out so well for you. The Delayed Start Function allows you to program a set amount of time before the Comfort Furnace starts automatically. That way, it won't run while you're away from home (conserving energy in the process). So for instance, if you'll be gone to work for 9 hours, you can set the Comfort Furnace to kick on in 8 1/2 hours, so that your house is warm before you return. Hope that answers your question, and thank you again so much!

Bought a unit on Sunday (at one of your one day appearances) and am still getting used to it. Main floor is approx. 1600 square feet, but bedrooms take up close to 500 of it. When I first started using it, had the temp set above what my central heat thermostat was set, and lowered my thermostat from 69 to 60 degrees. First 24 hours and the furnace never ran once. Finally adjusted the two thermostats (central and the infrared) to 67 degrees. Usage of the central system occurs mostly overnight and early morning - and seems to run less than once an hour or two. True, it is not yet the truly cold weather of Michigan yet but I am guessing my central system will run only about 1/3 as much as last year.
One question though - I also purchased the extended warranty for $79.95 and was told that it extends the basic warranty to 5 yrs and includes free lifetime replacement of the bulb and the 4 heating elements. In opening the box, etc., I see you have what is called a Platinum Care Plan for $69.95. Can you tell me if this is the same as what I paid $79.95 for or what the difference in the two warranties are. I see no mention of a second warranty on your website.
Mirage Customer Servicewrote on 11/16/2011 @ 11:53:02 am
Jerry: Thank you for your business! We're happy to hear your estimate that your central heating system will only run 1/3 as much this year as it did last year. Those are exactly the kinds of results we expect to see and love to hear about!
The Platinum Care Plan was a manufacturer's plan which was offered on last year's models, and must have been mistakenly inserted into the box of your new 2012 model. The Lifetime Bulb Protection Plan you purchased is the most current warranty offering, and actually represents a greater value. We apologize for the confusion. Please rest assured that the warranty you purchased is the right one.
Once again, thank you for your purchase. We truly value your business!
Jerrywrote on 11/16/2011 @ 02:34:42 pm
